​Accelerate Climate Solutions is an Illinois Shines Designee for GEJC, conducting outreach to recruit households and businesses in DuPage County to join the cooperative. Outreach includes a special focus on low and moderate income households.

Founded in 2023 by Blacks in Green, the GEJC represents a groundbreaking approach to community-owned clean energy. As a multi-race, multi-class, intergenerational, and Black/Brown-led cooperative, GEJC is building more than just solar panels – it’s creating pathways to economic independence and environmental justice.

The 9-megawatts of solar in Winfield and Naperville Townships stand as a testament to what communities can achieve when they come together. It’s more than clean energy – it’s about taking control of our energy future.​
