Accelerate's 2023 Interns
Accelerate Climate Solutions' intern program is designed to give high school and college students experience working locally on environmental issues and teach them about climate communications, policy, and technology. Working with these students helps us fulfill our mission to support the next generation of environmental leaders and build the green workforce of tomorrow.

During the Summer of 2023, Accelerate worked with 7 high school students, 2 recent high school graduates, and one college student. Fall 2023 interns include one college environmental science major and 3 high school students.

BLAST
Our interns helped develop the structure of the BLAST program, reached out to teachers, and created publicity.

Expanding recycling
Our college intern surveyed multi-family residences and restaurants regarding recycling and composting, with an eye to expansion. He also met with city staff and spoke before City Council.

Civic engagement
Our interns had the chance to meet with Senator Laura Ellman to discuss their environmental concerns and learn more about civic engagement.

Fund raising
Our students designed their own fundraising project, a pop-up thrift shop, and also participated in our highly successful bake sale at the last Naperville Municipal Band concert of the year.

They also helped create this website, worked on Accelerate's social media, and created some videos
